Ambassador Sianga Abílio took part on 21, 22 and 23 November, 2022, in Nairobi, in the Second Session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements (UN-Habitat).

The meeting which was co-chaired by Mrs. Maimunah Mohd Sharif UN Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat and by the Ambassador of Brazil Mr. Sílvio Albuquerque as Chairman of the Executive Council Bureau, was attended by delegations of the 36 countries that compose the Executive Board of UN-Habitat, a body of which Angola is part and that has the task of defining the Programme of Activities and Budget of this United Nations Programme and monitor its implementation.

In this Second Session, which refers to the year 2022, the Executive Board discussed the UN-Habitat Strategic Plan 2020-2023 and the Programme of Work and Budget for the year 2023.

On the other hand the Executive Board of UN-Habitat analyzed the results of the High-Level meeting of the UN General Assembly on the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, held last April in New York and the results of the 11th World Urban Forum, held in June in the city of Katowice, Poland, besides having worked on the preparation of the holding, in June 2023, of the Second Session of the Assembly of the United Nations Programme for Human Settlements.

The Ambassador Sianga Abílio spoke during the plenary session having stressed the need for UN-Habitat to intervene with population resettlement programmes in vulnerable regions as is the case of southern Angola and others.
